OAK BROOK, IL — A. M. Castle & Co., a leader in the global distribution of specialty metals and supply chain solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Zundel to Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. With nearly three decades of experience in the metals industry and a proven track record of leadership within the company, Zundel brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this new role.
Mr. Zundel began his career in the metals industry in December 1995 as an inside sales representative for Production Supply Co., shortly after earning a degree from Brigham Young University. Over the next 15 years, he excelled in sales and sales management roles, navigating the consolidation of Production Supply Co. and several other distributors to form Transtar Metals. From 2005 to 2008, Mr. Zundel served as Branch Manager of Transtar Metals’ Gardena, California facility.
Following A. M. Castle & Co.’s acquisition of Transtar Metals in 2006, Zundel transitioned to the Castle Metals team, assuming a pivotal role in supply chain management in 2009. Over the next several years, he held a series of leadership positions in both supply chain and commercial operations, demonstrating exceptional vision and versatility.
In 2018, Mr. Zundel was named Executive Vice President of Aerospace and Corporate Strategy, overseeing Castle Metals Aerospace and leading the company’s Global Supply organization while spearheading critical strategic initiatives. Now, as Chief Operating Officer, he directs A. M. Castle & Co.’s commercial, supply chain, and operations functions, driving alignment and operational excellence across all areas of the business.
